Powerhouse ha a day out at the Rowing Victoria awards luncheon. The luncheon was a first of its type event, and I hope that it continues to gather in popularity and eminence. A table of powerhousians made merry, and was on hand to pick up our numerous trophies.

Most impressive were the individual performances by our female coxwain’s and our A grade Men. We made a clean sweep of both. Congratulations to Nicole for her outstanding performance both behind the rudder, and in the stroke seat. Alissa and Caitlin filled in the other place getters. Not only did Shane win the A grade rower of the year, he also picked up a third in the masters competition. Bingy defeated Drew in the crucial battle for the 2nd place. Also to pick up a placing was Greer Lamaro who came away with a third place in the Women’s C rower of the Year.

The club did very well across all competition this year, and although we did not win any category out right we were in the running for all. A 3rd in the masters, A 2nd in the Club, and 2nd in the champion Club.  At this stage we are still trying to work out the difference between champion club, and club awards… But I am sure they are all good.

Also announced at the RV awards was the introduction of a rowing hall of fame. They would like us all to put our heads together, and come up with worthy contenders.  They aim to place 30 odd new members in the first year, then 1 or 2 in subsequent years. I think it’s a sterling idea, and I am curious as to the possibility of getting a phrc legend in the list.
