Hi all, An update on the situation with our landing... Firstly, Work will start this week. The first phase is the removal of either end of the current wooden staging so accurate measurements can be taken prior to manufacturing the steelwork we will be installing. This means that for the next 6-8 weeks we will have only a 14m section of wooden staging in the centre to use to launch and land. This is just long enough for an eight but will mean that only one boat at a time can either launch or land. Obviously this will cause some hold-ups at peak times - please therefore ensure that you are absolutely ready to go (i.e. oars down, drink bottles, socks, etc) the moment your boat hits the water. Likewise, no dawdling when coming in. It also means that there will be sharp edges to our already perilous staging, PLEASE exercise extreme caution, keep away from the edges and always wear thongs/flip-flops when launching/landing. Coxes/scullers/coxless boat steerers please be aware that at low tide you will be able to ram your boat into the exposed edge of the shortened staging if you are not careful - I would like to think that this will not happen at any stage... Secondly, If anyone has access to any old rolls of carpet that they have no other use for, I am looking for a couple of rolls to use to make the staging a little safer. Let me know. Also, anyone who has a crowbar/wrecking bar, a penchant for destruction and some spare time on Thursday around 10am, let me know - you can help me remove some of the offending structure. Cheers, Drew
