Given the large entry list for the worlds has meant that the first race on Saturday is now at 7.30am and the last race is scheduled for 7pm.
Sunrise is 06:21am and sunset 19:04.

The evening entertainment will be night racing, don't forget to pack the lights, photo finishes could require a flashlight.

October 2008 79mm rain (over 5 days) and mean wind strength 11km/h.
October 2007 24mm & 10km/h
October 2006 8mm & 11km/h
I would hardly call that driving rain and gusty.
As long as the conditions are the same for all competitors..... whatever.

Gee thanks for that Rolly, I think I'd rather fog than driving rain & gusty winds!!
No Fog in October

Don't worry, there won't be any fog at Penrith in October. It's the wrong season for that kind of weather. You are more likely to be confronted by driving rain and gusty wind. October and November are usually the windiest months of the year.
racing in the fog

I remember racing in the fog. Beads of water glazed my leggings, and the air was crisp and crystal quiet. As I approached the start a small breeze cleared the fog from the starting stalls. We started in the clear, but as we progressed down the course it got thicker. With 250m to go if you had an outside lane, you could not see your competition on the far side. But if you were in the center you could see everyone.
Morning Fog!!

Remember the early morning fog at Penrith in June 2007? We knew Bingy was out there but we could not see him. So if the racing is delayed for an hour because of fog, the last few events of the day will definitely be in the dark. Would look spectacular with lights on every buoy along the course, but we could ebd up with a 747 coming in to land. JOD
in the shadow too
