Round 3 results.

What a blistering wind we encountered, not head, not a tail, both and the same, all at once.. I loved it.. although i think i was in the minority. An interesting day, and interesting tactics. the powerhouse heat was most exciting to watch. Benson decided to give teh rest a head start, and did not comence sculling untill a good 4 or 5 of his competitors had already comenced.

i have been told by the handicapper to tell Benson that it wont work. Benson's surpise tactics are unlikely to garner him a softer handicap next week.

Thompson on teh other hand blitz the field to record his second win of the series.. the handicaper may be taking notes,a nd his gifted run may come to an end. Coops also decided to have a win.. he obviously got all his conversation time done with before he started. its amazing how well he goes if he does not stop for a breather half way.. it would have been a powerhouse one/two across teh line if not for submersible antcis of Carew.

Aparently peter was runnings econd, aparently he pulled harder to gain teh first position.. aparently he swam across the line in seventh place. The handicaper does not look favourably on self mutilation. On a side note, I have never seen anyone so happy after falling in before. the cold yarra waters must have woken him up.

A number of close finishes were witnessed on teh day. John did an admirable job of taking the win by a little philosphy to teh extreme, recording a dead heat for 3rd. john is also pleased with his sss ranking, having improoved his margin against shane by 30 seconds! Shane was again beaten by a young youthful rower who decided to row hard at the last instant. So despite an amirable row in the tough conditions, shane only came away with a 5th.

Binglis had a gifted row, he hounded the field down teh course. Scullers were outdoing themselves to get out of his way.. infact four of them triesd to fit through the north arch as Bingy headed for center... Only one sculler emerged form the other side. Bingy was pleased with his result, despite the kamakazi tactics of his competitors, he was crest fallen to see to young wipper snappers still ontop of the water ahead of him though. Prehaops next time they will all fall in.

no luck for roland, who record his third successive defeat.. he capitalised on his defeat by telling the handicapper that he was run down, and should have gone faster. The handicaper has said thanks rolly, we will leave your handicap unchanged... (we will have to work on your handicaper skills rolly)

The leader board sees bensosn slide back down to equal forth.. cooper and thompson are leading teh pack, but hopefully teh handicapper will see them outed from teh leading positions. jeff hill and bingy continue to feature in the points and may be capable of a late challenge. Jeff pulin continues to row well, and could be Coop's bigest threat of taking out teh denis cup.

Carew's admirable seventh keeps him ahead of rolly.. but only just. Doug keeps sliding down teh rankings, but the good news is taht his wife also got wipped on teh weekend. guess they can mutualy agree not to talk about the result.
