The Foot of the Goulburn Regatta is the modern successor to the historic Head of the Goulburn, once a staple of Victoria’s rowing calendar. The original head race, run over several kilometres of the Goulburn River, drew clubs and schools to Nagambie for decades.
Flooding in 2022 and restrictions near Chinaman’s Bridge meant the traditional course could no longer be used. Organisers reimagined the event as the Foot of the Goulburn, shifting the finish line downstream onto the Nagambie Lakes course.
On October 25th, Power House Rowing Club proudly took part in the regatta. Ten members attended, with many doubling up to row in two events. A highlight of the day was the Mixed Quad crew—E. Harridge, A. Wilcox, C. Schlicht, and L. Rodriquez—who claimed victory in their category, showcasing both skill and teamwork.
Today, the regatta covers about 5 km, blending competition with community spirit. Hosted by Nagambie Rowing Club, it continues to showcase endurance racing while celebrating local wineries and regional culture. The change in name and format reflects resilience, ensuring this much‑loved tradition lives on.
