New Rowers, New Energy — Learn to Row Begins

Published Mon 20 Apr 2026

Power House Rowing Club has launched its Autumn Learn to Row program, welcoming a new group of adults eager to try rowing for the first time or return after time away. The four‑week program began on Sunday 12 April 2026 and has already completed its first week with excellent feedback and strong enthusiasm from participants.

Designed as an accessible and confidence‑building introduction to the sport, the program teaches the fundamentals of rowing in a friendly, supportive environment. Across the four weeks, participants learn how to set up a boat, understand basic technique, build rhythm and timing, and gain confidence both on the water and in the rowing tank. Sessions run twice a week—Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings—giving beginners a consistent, structured pathway into the sport.

Leading the program is coach Abi Schlicht, whose patient, clear and encouraging coaching style has already made a big impact. Abi specialises in helping new rowers understand technique from the ground up, ensuring every participant feels supported and capable from day one.

The program has quickly proven its value. Many participants have already expressed interest in continuing into regular rowing, making this a promising source of new members for the club. As Power House Rowing Club continues to grow, Learn to Row will play an increasingly important role in bringing new people into the sport and strengthening the club’s future.

We encourage all members to say hello, offer a hand and help our new rowers feel welcome when you see them around the club. A friendly word or small gesture can make a huge difference to someone just starting out.

Power House Rowing Club is proud to welcome the next generation of rowers and looks forward to seeing them progress through the season.
