A quick hello from our new Captain, Cindy Plowman
Power House Rowing Club has welcomed Cindy Plowman as Club Captain for the 2026–27 season.
Cindy recently returned to Power House after spending around 10 years living and rowing in Melbourne’s south-east.
“I first found rowing, and Power House, in the early 2000s after I could no longer compete in netball. I’ll always be grateful that I stumbled across a sport that gave me not only another competitive outlet, but an incredible community and many friendships along the way.”
Volunteering and building strong communities have also been an important part of Cindy’s life. Over the years she has volunteered with lifesaving clubs, coached junior netball teams and held both executive and general committee positions.
Having rowed across Melbourne and built friendships throughout the rowing community, Cindy has also seen a wide range of approaches to club life, training and culture.
“That experience reinforced why coming back to Power House was such an easy decision for me. We have an enormous amount going for us.”
Cindy points to the club’s fleet, Yarra River location, rowing tank and structured coaching program as some of Power House’s major strengths.
“We’re fortunate to have Patrick and our broader coaching team supporting our rowers. As I step into the Captain’s role, my starting point isn’t ‘what’s wrong with Power House?’ It’s ‘how do we build on what we already have?’”
One of Cindy’s first priorities will be working with Head Coach Patrick Rocek and the coaching team to establish Power House’s 2026–27 target regatta calendar.
Having key dates confirmed early will help members plan ahead and support strong Power House representation throughout the season.
Cindy will also be training and competing alongside members throughout the year.
“I’m looking forward to getting out on the water, meeting more members and hearing their ideas about how we can continue to strengthen the club.”
And, of course, there is one more goal for the season.
“Let’s get that Power House medal tally up!”
