The 2026 rowing season began under difficult circumstances, with devastating bushfires across regional Victoria forcing the cancellation of both the Rutherglen Regatta (10–11 January) and the second day of Barwon Regatta (25 January). Our thoughts remain with the communities impacted — many of whom are part of the broader rowing family. Despite the disruption, Power House Rowing Club athletes regrouped with trademark resilience and determination.
The club's season opening finally occured at the JG King Homes Wendouree Ballarat Regatta on Sunday 1st February 2026, where Lacinta Rodriquez proudly represented Power House Rowing Club as our sole competitor. She delivered an impressive campaign, placing 3rd in FM1X and securing 2nd in XM2X with Nick Inglis (Yarra Yarra), notably finishing ahead of the strong Yarra Yarra crew featuring Dave Jacka and Sarah Sekfy.
Momentum continued at the Nagambie Regatta on Sunday 15th February 2026, where 10 Power House Rowing Club members lined up across 12 events, showcasing depth, versatility, and plenty of grit.
The Mixed Coxed Four consisting of Billy Woods, Jo Nuttall, David Mayes, Alysha Batliwalla, and expertly steered by cox Deb Spring claimed a commanding win. Lacinta added another victory in FM4X‑ (composite with Yarra Yarra), while Deb also coxed an Albury Wodonga X4X+ to gold.
Other standout results included Billy Woods’ 2nd place in MC1X, and the Male Masters Coxed Four—Brendon Rasheed, Nigel Finney, Pete Leahy, Russ Mursell, coxed by Deb—taking a strong 2nd place.
A special acknowledgement goes to Coach Patrick Rocek, whose preparation, guidance, and steady leadership have been instrumental in getting our athletes ready to perform despite a challenging start.
With this momentum, the rest of the 2026 season promises plenty to look forward to.
