Power House Rowing Club Masters Deliver Solid Performances

Published Sun 19 Apr 2026

e 2026 Masters Rowing Series is underway, and Power House Rowing Club athletes began the season with determined racing and a number of solid performances across the first two regattas: the Albert Park Lake Masters Rowing Regatta on 11 April 2026 and the Carrum Masters Rowing Regatta on 18 April 2026.

Masters regattas work a bit differently from normal club or grade racing. Instead of racing in divisions based on speed or past results, Masters rowers race in age groups. Because age affects how fast crews can go, handicaps are added to help even things out. This means crews don’t always start at the same time — older crews often get a head start, and younger crews have to chase them down. It makes the racing more tactical and mentally tough, because you’re not just racing the boats beside you, you’re trying to catch crews that are already up the course. In Masters racing, good teamwork, clean technique and smart combinations matter just as much as raw speed.

With two solid regattas behind them, the Masters squad heads into the  Rowing Victorian Masters State Championship event on 2nd May 2026 with confidence and momentum.
